Which site do you prefer for AV related products?

That doesn't include delivery details, though, so isn't really a proper price comparison engine, which is why I haven't included it.
If people don't bother with delivery costs in their comparisons, then those companies selling products for 1p with £399.99 delivery will make a nonsense of the whole thing.

I just use it mainly as it seems to find more places to get it compared to some other sites. I did use pricerunner for a while but found the details to be quite inaccurate sometimes on stock levels, price and delivery costs.

Yes, most of the price comparison sites have very poor databases. Google product search is a little better but often covers less than half the sites selling a particular product.

Re: What is your preferred AV price comparison site?

I tend to find the cheapest prices from Idealo, But I still prefer to buy from assured advertisers on here.

Re: What is your preferred AV price comparison site?

I can live with Google not giving a delivery price. When I follow the link on many other price comparison sites I find the actual price is a lot higher anyway.

Re: What is your preferred AV price comparison site?

Although I don't particularly want to waste my money I don't think that the cheapest price will necessarily provide the best service. I have bought from Internet sites, mainly ones who advertise on this Forum, but generally I prefer to use a local shop. I do pay over the odds but I also get good service and support from people, rather than a remote company.

Re: What is your preferred AV price comparison site?

I've found recently a lot of these sites to be wildly inaccurate in both price and stock levels.

But the one that helped me get my Sammy TV before anyone else (completely unintended ) was Idealo. They had correct prices and reasonably accurate stock levels.

I don't use them. When it comes to AV equipment I tend to buy from retailers I have used in the past which have tended to be ones that have been forum favourites.

use the forums for advice and set up etc, dont use comparison sites just retailers that i have bought from before, ok you may pay a bit more but top quality customer service to me is priceless.

Re: What is your preferred AV price comparison site?

Used to use them a lot a couple of years ago (PriceRunner etc).

Now there are so many, there databases are inaccurate and their results limited to particular manufacturers (presumably the ones that pay in some way) that I find them ineffective.

I do use Find DVD though.

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: What is your preferred AV price comparison site?

I used them in the past, once or twice, to buy things like LCD television for playroom. Companies took my order, but "oh, we don't have in stock even though we said we did on our webpage" happened a couple of times; also had wrong item delivered and refusal to accept return from some schister company in Belfast. Never again.

I use large reputable large companies instead, e.g. Amazon or John Lewis, but for proper AV kit use a specialist retailer (such as ones that advertise on this site) or local specialist shop.

Re: What is your preferred AV price comparison site?

I've put other - and I only use Google Product Search (a.k.a. Froogle)

I either use Google web search, which might link to something like Kelkoo (but I never navigate to it without Google pointing it out), the only one I speifically type into my address bar is the Google one - Google Product Search

Me too, i either google search for a product or use the google shopping search option. I am always suspicious of price comparison websites and generally find them to be misleading. Google usually has accurate prices, i ignore any ebay results as they can be skewed due to the ridiculous postage on some items and i always prefer to buy from a reputable retailer. Because of this i often conduct my own searches of popular websites, Amazon, Play, Misco.....etc. Postage is so often free now aswell that using price comparrison websites to find exact cost including p+p is often a waste of time (in my experience).

I know there was an Other box, but Google isn't a PC site, even though it comes up with shopping reults
