It flashes much faster and more prominently once you get up to firmware V21 as well.

Re: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic - Discussion Thread Part II

Folks, i just recieved my second 5800, the other one broke when the screen just turned purple3 and died. I put the videos i had converted for it that worked on the first, onto the one new one and now when i play them, i hear audio but no video and then it closes saying memory full.
Any help please ?

Thanks
PAul

Re: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic - Discussion Thread Part II

Can anyone help me with debranding my 5800? I've followed the following guide and am begining to pull my hair out...

http://www.nottinghamjazz.co.uk/blog/?p=66

I install the Jaf programs but none of them run. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. The phone is originaly from Vodafone but I'm using my o2 contract sim. current firmware is v20.

I did the same on XP with no problems so think it could be a windows 7 issue you are experiencing there.

Me too. Got it a couple of days ago. Was quite surprised, as version 10 took ages to be released.

Seems a bit snappier.

Re: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic - Discussion Thread Part II

Does anyone know how to turn flight request on? When you switch on the phone it asks if you want flight mode. I do know how to get into flight mode once the phone is already connected. Recently I sent a text to the wrong person and I wanted to cancel it but it takes to long to get to the outbox to stop it so I tried to turn the phone off.

My thinking was that I could go into flight mode and stop the text from sending. Alas I failed and the phone didn't ask for flight mode, sent the text as soon as I entered my pin.

Another q how do you do updates ota I tried but the phone wants some settings which I do't have.

I got one from ebay, it was the most shockingly bad fit ever. Be wary of ebay if you pick one up, make sure you get a review from someone about that case.

As an aside is anyone going to dump their 5800 for an n97. I want to put not sure on pricing. If I can get £150 for my 5800 I don't mind adding another £150 to get the n97 but not more otherwise it'll be too dear.

Silicone case

I bought one of these and recommended others to buy to, they seem happy enough with them, postage is a bit slow. But good product with good fit.

you have just answered my question. My fone started talking to me last week which certainly surprised everyone in the office.

How do you set the fone to do this ? my partners fone doesn't speak the callers name .

Only the newish symbian nokias do it. My n95 8gb does and my 5800 to.

On 8gig tools--->settings----> general----> personalisation -----> tones ----> say caller name ---> on

Similar in 5800 go to profiles, personalise and say claler name.

Go to Nokia website, phone settings, Nokia 6131, advanced settings OTA software.

It works.

hi, are these rubbery or slick? i used to have a silicone skin for my old phone and i found it would be difficult to get out of my pockets and would also attract a lot of dust, dirt and lint, thanks

Rubbery, so they do stick. Otherwise go for an invisible skin.

Phone will restart in whatever profile it was powered off in. Don't think you can specify a certain profile at startup with out some aftermarket software maybe.

Quickest way to choose flight mode though is to just tap the home screen where it says the current profile or date and choose 'offline' from the bottom of the popup menu.

I know the reply wasn't for me but I alao need the settings, I followed your instructions but it doesn't allow you to pick advanced settings. The option isn't on the page. Could someone type the settings manually so I can copy them? I'm on o2.
