It'll be interesting to see people's opinions on this, as after much deliberation these last few month's I've just taken the plunge and posted a 'Want to Trade' in the classified's with the intent to swap my iPhone 4 for this Nokia.

I've had a play in store with one and like the look and smoothness of it, plus have had and liked WP7 before, but if I do swap I wonder whether I'll end up regretting it again!

I have a Lumia 800 and an iPhone 4S. The Lumia is a fab phone. Very smooth with a beautiful screen. I guess the real answer is how many apps you use that may not yet be on the WP7 platform. That's why I still have my 4S. Although I do use the Lumia far more often than the 4S.

I very much doubt you will disappointed from a day to day use perspective, apps aside that is.

Yeah I'm just bored with the iPhone at the mo. Have had every one since the 3G and fancy a change.

Depends on what your needs are. I have an iPhone 4 and the gf has just had a lumia 800, I'd much prefer a lumia 800, but there are a couple of apps I use that aren't on wp7 yet so I'm hanging back for now.

Yeah, I can see why the lack of apps can be an issue. In reality I rarely use many apps that I can't find the equivalent of on WP7 for my day-to-day use.

The only thing I'd probably need to spend out on if I do trade is a new armband for tracking my distance when I go running.

I'm just a bit bored of iOS and fancy a change - as I've tried Android several times and disliked it every time, WP7 would make a nice and refreshing change!

I have the new iPad anyway so I'm covered there. The most I use on my phone is weather, Navigon and games like solitaire.

I use a lot of emoji in my texts with my wife and other friends that have iPhones. Does wp7 have an emoji keyboard?

Also forgot to ask, how do you guys get on with charging port flap sticking out like that and charging it in the car and using a phone holder?

Has anybody had much experience of armband holders for the Lumia 800? I was just looking on Amazon and around, but there seem to be very few about, or otherwise quite expensive (> £10). I'm currently using an iGadgitz one with my iPhone which works well but I think wouldn't fit the Lumia.

Now I'm starting to wonder whether I should just stick to my iPhone after all, at least until upgrade time in July (it's not that long away, is it?!... ) as it fulfils everything I mainly use it for (surfing the net when I'm out & about, checking email, tracking my running, texting and even making the occassional phone call! ) even if I am bored of iOS.

Soft reset by holding the volume down and power button, is the phone supposed to vibrate three times and then restart or shut down and then I press the power button to turn it back on?

Also I updated the phone to 12070 but the battery is still crap and barley lasts 12 hours on light use. Does that mean the phone is faulty?

Hey!

Actually I was coming back to post that battery life since yesterday has improved considerably.

23% remaining with 1 day 14 hours standby.

I guess it takes a couple of cycles but it was awful before then, I was getting 6 hours out of the battery.

Now I just wish:

Volume was louder for ringtones and text messages.

Volume for the music player and the rest of the sounds was separate.

Bass is a bit harsh compared the my iPhone 4S.

Phone vibrates twice then starts ringing, why can't it vibrate and ring?

Auto brightness is set too low in low light.

That's about it for now I guess

I only get 1 day from full charge with the Batt remaing never showing more than 14 hrs ,

Incoming Call volume is fine but i find the incoming Voice volume is crap even on max plus its very bassy and like hard to hear what people are saying.

Also would be nice to chose your own txt tone .

Txt font is very small too for my ageing eyes.

Might just take it back in the morning for a refund, Trouble is its pretty fast for flicking around the various forums in my lunchbreaks even on a non 3G voda signal .

I hate TV's and Phones lol

Does anyone know why in the list menu the a-z tiles that used to be a solid colour have turned to just an outline of the tile and its background is now black?

Odd, that how they are on white but not black. Switch the colour profile and reboot?

Ahh... just had another look myself and mine are indeed like that photo.

Yet if you look under contacts they are solid colored blocks, sorry for the confusing, but it seems that is how it should be.

Yeah it seems that after you install 40-45 apps it comes up and then stays there even if you delete apps and have less than the trigger.

I wouldn't mind but I think it looks ugly without the solid background.

My alphabet separators have always been an outline only. I think it's so it distinguishes them easily from solid app tiles. I prefer them this way.

On the latest firmware? That seems quite low unless you're hammering it. Since the last update it's on a par with the Nexus and 4S in my experience and judging by recent tests better than the H0X.

Yeap from 12070 and I'm not a heavy user by any stretch.

The only thing I have running in the background is the weather app.

Before the update I was lucky to get 6 ours from the phone.

I do have 3G and wifi turned in all the time.

I have found the battery reading to be off some times. This could be due to my usage patter but mine almost ways says 16-18 hours left.

As an example the other night I had 8% battery left and so I thought I just run it right now before bed. After playing a game for 10mins of so I went back into the battery to find it had gone up to 12%. So I left a game running and it still took an hour to power off.

Right now I have 20% battery left and I unplugged it yesterday morning at 8:30am. I went to a party last night and forgot to charge it. It as easily easily going to last 28-30 hours. but yesterday morning I was quoted 18hours.

So I have found the reading to be inconstant, but in practice it last for ages.

Well I said goodbye to the lumia and got a Titan instead. Couldn't put up with the poor audio when listening to music or low volume and only vibrating twice when the phone rings. The display was also not satisfactory with poor whites weird blue tint off axis and line bleed too.

The HTC Titan has remedied all those for me. I should have gone for it initially but thought it was too big, boy was I wrong. Fits in my jeans pocket just fine and even though it's 4.7 inch display has the same resolution as the one inch smaller lumia, it's actualy a lot clearer when it comes to text, especially in the SMS app.

Colours are also more realistic and there is no colour banding like on the 800. The vibrator is also stronger on it and you get 5 normal ringtones pre installed.

I like a lot of the htc apps as well but do miss Nokia Drive. I especially like the audio enchantments and the attentive phone plus missed call led.

With brightness set to auto blacks are extremely acceptable.

I don't understand why the Titan isn't more popular amongst wp7 users.
