unlock Nokia n86 on three

All ,

I have bought Nokia n86 locked to three...

Any pointers about unlocking the same will be of great help...

Three wants me to cough up the entire contract amt...

It wouldn't hurt to ask at a local independent phone shop, however I don't think there is an unlocking solution for the N86 yet. If there is, be aware, this will invalidate your warranty.

The only "warranty safe" method is manufacturer's code. The two sources for this are Three and a web dealer (expect to pay £30 to £75).

No local independent shop has one for N86..

I have checked with few reputed web sites as well...

No luck there...

Its a newish handset, so its possible that an unlocking solution may be available at some stage.

Can I ask why you want to unlock the handset, there may be another solution?

I want to send it as present to someone who is in India and need to get it unlocked!!!

Tricky one, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try one of the Turbo SIMS. They don't work on Three but may work if you re-brand the handset.

One of the rebranding services may be able to put an Indian firmware on the phone (so that it has the correct language pack) as long as there are no hardware differences with the Indian model.

I guess I will rebrand it as i did for my N95 and E71 but can not use India sim..

Language options is not an issue only any sim should work..

I think I will give a explore more on turbo sim

Found an unlocker finally but asking for the moon...

waiting for prices to drop as the software becomes available on a wide scale..

DM3 have started unlocking it for 15 quids( depends on franchise..) got mine done,debranded using Nemesis updated to version 21 using Nokia sw updater..
