Hi

I have a Nokia 6500 Classic on 3. I want to unlock it so that my girlfriend can put use with her Orange Sim (as her phone has been sent for repair).

Does anyone know how I can get it unlocked for freee (or cheaply)? The standard free websites do not seem to offer unlocking for Nokia 6500 Classic and 3 have quoted me £15 to unlock it.

Grateful for any advice.

see similar thread . I had the same prob with a 6500classic locked to o2, This had something will BB5 SL2 locking and the only way to unlock was via a special hardware box. The man with the mobile stall at my local market charged £10. If 3 will do it for £15 incl I'd go with that!

Bear inmind that the Three version is heavily branded and will need debranding for any but the most basic use on another network.

I got it unlocked on a market stall for £7 in the end. Yes, realise the issue with branding but it isn't a major problem.

You may find issues in the future with the certificates and network settings. If so, then its reasonably straightforward to debrand the handset.
