Nokia N86 Problems !!

Hi Everyone, a newbie alert here

Ive just got a nokia N86 on orange with software 10.086 installed.

Please help me with these problems as they are driving me mad

1) There is no File Manager? How can I hide private pics like I used to be able to do on my N95?

2) When on the internet I go to options-display options-view images I get a Web:Empty File with a red '!' symbol. How can I save images to my phone?

3) This might be facebook but how do I upload pictures. I`m asked to put my login details and when I try and upload again it keeps redirecting me back to the login screen again.... very frustrating.

Are much of my problems softwhare related because on the Nokia site it says my softwere is the lates one yet on this forum I have read about a V11??? I`m lost.

I know i`m a newbie and a bit rubbish and I`m sure these issues may have been covered before but any help would be appriciated.

Thanks

I've got a n86 and my file manager is here.

Menu ---> Applications ----> Office ----> File mgr.

2) When on the internet I go to options-display options-view images I get a Web:Empty File with a red '!' symbol. How can I save images to my phone?

Ok just did that and the images show up and I should be able to save them. I think it could be down to the branded firmware which you are using.

Can't help with that one but I know the n86 doesn't have a dedicated facebook application so you use the mobile version of the facebook website. I'm not sure if you can upload pictures using the mobile version of the facebook site.

I think the problems are due to the firmware of your phone. Mine is unbranded (doesn't have the orange or vodafone crap on it). The software version is 20.115 . A few new features were added including face detect and red eye reduction for the camera.

The way I see it you have 3 options.

1. Reload the orange firmware through nokia software update or take it to a nokia care point and let them do it for you.

2. Wait for orange to release v20 for you to update your phone, they may not do this or you might have to wait a long time for it.

3. Debrand your phone so it because unbranded and generic which is how nokia sell their phones which come from them directly. The problem with this is that it invalidates your warranty.

I know i`m a newbie and a bit rubbish and I`m sure these issues may have been covered before but any help would be appriciated.

Thanks
Saying my message is too short

Thanks for all your help iceman !! You can be my wing man anyday

Can`t believe how thick i was not to check apps for the file manager lol !

If I did debrand the phone... would it invalidate my insurance? I have mine covered with orange because i have never had a phone that has lasted 18 months without breaking.

Can anybody please expand on the issue above please. It seams that Ovi is giving me the same problem when I try and install an aplication. Infact, i can`t even install Ovi Store. When I try it first gives me messgae that reads "Opening a secure connection. Content cannot be seen by anyone else. Contine?" I click yes.

I get another message sayinf "The site contains unsecure items. Download Items?" I click yes.

I then get the Ovi Store login page which I have regestered for so I put my user name and password in so you would think that my installation would start.... well no it doesn`t.

When I click "Sign in" I get a message saying "Leaving a secure web page. Continue?" I click yes. This redirects me to the Ovi store Download application screen and the hole process starts all over again .

Can anybody please help? I have trailed google all day and I have spoken to orange. I have updated my firmwhere. I`m sure this must be something simple??

Not sure about the insurance. In theory it shouldn't but insurance companies do look to catch people out to avoid paying for claims.

But thinking about it an insurance claim would probably be for something like water damage or a broken screen so that should be okay. Although this is the kind of question you can't ask the insurance company because they will always say it invalidates etc etc but I think it would depend what you are claiming for. Its possible they would just give you a new phone rather than to repair your own.

I've just got mine, first nokia for years.
I have a slightly different question regarding the radio; specifically the "antennae" part, with the 3.5 jack & small control panel thingy. I'm having major problems with interference which seem to stem from contact with the control bit (very technical eh?). I don't seem to be able to lock it - there's a swith on the side which doesn't seem to do anything.
Has anyone had similar issues or know how to get around it?

Cheers
