Nokia 6300 problem

Hi, had my Nokia 6300 for about two and half years and everything has been ok until this morning!
Went to switch it on in the normal way, the dispaly lights, the hands come together then the display just flashes on and off three or four times with a faint beep then it turns itself off.
Do not even get the menu icons!!
The battery is fully charged, the night before actually so I am mystified????
Has anyone heard of this one ?
