Has anyone owned a Nokia N79, not N97

Is the music player any good?

Yeah, I got a black N79 on T-Mob.
The music player is OK, nothing great or spectacular with the usual features.
I used to use a SONY phone and will say that it's not as good as a SONY, and other than the default setting, other sound presets are really dire.
Loudness wise it's not overly loud, but doesn't distort on full volume which is good.
The only downside is the battery won't last a day with more than a few hours listening.

Which sony phone did you have because I just have a K800i which has a bad music player, the sound quality is ok but the interface is rubbish, it won't show the whole song it cuts of the name sometimes and sometimes it randomly says playback failed.

Should I just get an ipod Nano then?

I'd say buy the Nano if you want music.

I've recently tried a lot of nokia phones and none have a great sound of a good music player.

Having said that: The new N86 might be worth a look with dedicated music control keys and better quality headphones than the usual Nokia ones.

Forget this idea I have just found 2 phones which aren't Nokia so I'm off to another thread now, but thanks for all your help
