N97 - What are the latest opinions?

Hi All,
Been having problems with my SE X1 (signal dropouts) so considering the N97 as a suitable replacement.
I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews for it though.

Just wondering if people are still disliking it, or have all the bugs been resolved?
Is it still one to avoid or should I go with it?

Whatever I go with has to be from Vodafone's range as I'm still stuck in a contract with them.

So will the N97 be a good replacement for my X1 or is there something better (from Voda range) that might be more suitable?

Thanks for any info, guys.

shr.

Check out the N97 thread in the Nokia forum, the good, bad and ugly is discussed there

(that describes some of the posters too....)

Probably better to wait for the N900 coming out in October!

Re: N97 - What are the latest opinions?

Of what's available now an HTC Touch Pro2 would be a good replacement. But there are some cool new phones launching soon (Xperia X2, Samsung B7610, etc.) which may be a better choice.

Yes, saw that but was hoping for a quick summary on the latest opinions. (Yeah, I know that's cheating)

Just wondered if alot of the early problems have been ironed out yet?

I really like my X1 so perhaps the X2 would make me most happiest.
Only changing cos my X1 wont hold a signal properly. (Been sent to Voda repairs three times).

Anyone know anything of the SE Satio? Does that sound like a viable replacement to the X1?

All in all, I want a device that is good for browsing whilst out and about so needs a decent screen.
Reading around, it seems the iPhone is good at this.

But how do you get one without paying the earth?
Voda will let me have any handset at a good price and low line rental, but I can't find a handset from their range that will give me what I'm after.

They'll let me port my number to another network, but then I'd have to pay 35 pounds/month for a new contract AND THEN pay for a handset too.

Where are you guys all going for your good deals?

Re: N97 - What are the latest opinions?

Moved to Nokia forum....

If this turns out to be the same sort of chat as in the N97 thread, I'll merge it into that as we don't need another. But if it's a N97 Vs... thread it can stay.

Hey all, the N900 is like the nokia internet tablet, by the looks of it, its going to be big, chunky and bulky. In that case I would stick with the N97 or considering getting a blackberry or a apple iphone.

Its considerably smaller than the previous Nokia Tablets (N800 N810 etc) although still on the bulky side for a phone
