Re: nokia music!!!

Haven't had any problems myself today. Maybe you've found an old version of the app? Did you download Nokia Music from here :

Download and play music on your PC and transfer it to your mobile device with Nokia Music

Re: nokia music!!!

You can't use DRM'd content (such as tracks downloaded from the Music store) as ringtones. There's probably a legal reason / security issue for it or maybe PRS would have some extra claim as a ringtone who knows. The short answer is that it's not possible I'm afraid.

Re: nokia music!!!

I don't like this either. It's the same thing as with the music from Comes with Music store, you only get to use them on the registered device..It's kinda frustrating not to be able to use the tracks in any way you need them.Is there no way you could make them work?

Legally you can't break the DRM although there are ways to do it. I'll say no more

I carry a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable with me for playing back my comes with music content on my various music systems from the phone which is less than ideal. Having two comes with the music phones has also enabled me to register two PCs, one at work one at home. Even with all this it's still such a pain to work around the DRM. I don't want to pirate the music, I'd just like to use it more conveniently also eg streaming it from my home media server.

Re: nokia music!!!

I don't want to start a new thread with this one already here so can I ask in here?

I recently got a 5800 and got 2 years free downloads, but when I go into Nokia Music and go to download a song it comes up asking for payment. The 2 year free downloads does show up in my account however.

Do I need to put card details in and will it come off as free?

I didn't have to enter my card as far I remeber both times I registered. Process should be something like this :

> REGISTER
1) Install Nokia Music
2) Click store tab
3) Click Join now link (top right)
4) Click Join comes with music
5) Follow instructions (attach cable and enter PIN)

> DOWNLOAD MUSIC (PC)
1) Click store tab
2) Click sign in and sign in...
3) returned to the main page, check that you are in the unlimited store - there should be no prices
4) if you're not in the store click the 'comes with music' button

> DOWNLOAD MUSIC (5800 / n97)
1) Menu
2) Music
3) Music Store
4) Choose connection method (if by wifi click Nokia Music UK when prompted)
5) Click middle on screen button (man with a key) and sign in
6) returned to main page, music shouldn't have a price.

Sorry buddy, was worth a try. I've been using the comes with music yesterday and today and have had no problems so it must be a setting that needs adjusting locally. You could check to see if the Nokia Music app is on the allowed list on your firewall settings.

But, still there are some legally ways to free the drm, it's not like breaking or cracking or smth like that, you just can re-record the original file and in this way you remove the drm legally. It's just like the old times when we used to record tapes from radios and this wasn't illegal.

Re: nokia music!!!

I for one am willing to take my chances. If the original file is not cracked and it's just recorded or whatever it's fine by me, cause it's a pretty good deal to get the phone and all the music you like.
Can you please tell me more about those legal ways you were talking about?

Re: nokia music!!!

Yeah tried it, and whaddyaknow it actually did work.

And to my surprise it works with a lot of file formats, not only with the protected ones.

Re: nokia music!!!

Yeap, it supports many formats for both audio and video files, this is a very important feature, if you ask me, cause I don't have to take into consideration what formats I buy, so I can play them on my music players. Also, the quality of the converted files is very good.
