Thanks: Gave 384, Got 937 | Nokia N73 - Discussion Thread
This phone has really caught my eye (well the pictures have anyway!) I'm still deciding between the Nokia N80 and SE K800i, however people have complained of battery problems with the N80 and the mock-up I saw of the K800i yesterday seemed a tad chunky.
I’m thinking on waiting to see how the N73 stacks up, on the face of it the feature list is as good as the K800i (especially in terms of camera) 3.2MP; autofocus; Carl Zeiss lens; slim candy bar design. One to watch for sure.
Click here for the Nokia site.

I'd wait and see.
Main difference seems to be the wifi on the N80 (and obviously its a slide)
resolution is lower on the N73, but the screen is a lot bigger.
Camera is about the same?

I've just got an N80 and am delighted with it, although I am a complete Nokia disciple.
The Wi-Fi possibly isn't as useful as it sounds unless you really want to be able to integrate your phone with your IP connected home entertainment system or are often in locations where you have no laptop but Wi-fi access.
The web browser is good tho'
One great benefit for me of the slide system is that the keys are much bigger than I had on my previous N70, my fat fingers can use the keypad much easier.
Lack of lens cover on the back is not good. Camera has macro (close up) mode.
I've done three full charge/discharge cycles from new and have the latest firmware and I get about 4 days from the battery with light use.
2GB memory cards are available for this phone. Mini SD. The cost premium for Sony cards appears to have disappeared now, although I still don't like having to go proprietary.

The N73 does seems more of a direct competitor for the K800i than the N80 is. I've just got the N80 and with the delays that faced I'm not convinced about the August dates I've seen for the N73. When I saw the initial info on the N73 and N93 I though about holding out but can't see them being out before Sept.

Having seen mentions of the N80, ive just compared them both on the nokia site.
To be honest there isnt much to separate them.
Im not fussed with wifi and browsers etc, i just want an easy to use phone with smartphone capabilities.
The more i look at the N80, the more i like it, it has a better screen than the N73 :
N73 : 240x320
N80 : 352x416
but it is larger in size :
N73 : 110 x 49 x 19mm
N80 : 95 x 50 x 23mm
And im not sure of the N80 and the sliding motion, like a keypad to be accessible.
I might have to do some more research into the N73.

This is the phone im looking forward to, looks V nice. Was going to go for the K800i but i dont think I could cope without being able to install Tom Tom or MSN on my phone (currently have one of the older Nokia Smart Phones) I just hope the battery life turns out to be better than the N80. Due for an upgrade on o2 in a couple of weeks time but think im deffo going to hold out for news on the N 73 |

Hi all, Contract is due for an upgrade in the next 2 weeks.
I'm another one torn between the SEK800i and the Nokia N73. I'm quite willing to wait for the nokia if its in anyway better than the SE.
Does anyone know of any idea when we can expect to see the N73 released please?
Cheers
Gaz

The last I heard is sometime around August, that's if there's no delays...

Nokia press release says that it is now shipping, and I've seen that VF online are showing that they have it.
