Tranfer old files to new phone

I had a Nokia N95 8Gig phone and I have lots of pics, apps and games on it; I just purchased the new N97 I would like all my files on my old phone put on my new one. Does any one know how to do this if its possible.

Thanks

It should be reasonably simple using either the nokia pc suite or ovi suite (this one should come with the phone). Simply connect your old phone to your pc, back it up using the software and then connect the new phone and tranfer across. I say reasonably though as I tried to transfer all my files to the n97 from my n82 using the pc suite and although all the files have been transfered the photos are not showing up in the photo section Only when I go to file manager can I see them. Maybe an error on my part but it would be interesting to know if anyone else has this problem

Re: Tranfer old files to new phone

Doesn't the built in Nokia "Switch" application do this?

Or just connect with USB cable choose "Mass storage" mode and copy the files from the old phone to the PC. (Will be on the 8gb storage under videos/photos etc..)

Then connect new phone and copy from PC to new phone.

I am pretty sure that apps, including games, cannot be simply transferred from one handset to another, the software peeps would class that as piracy even though you just want to transfer from old phone to new. If you still have the original sis, sisx or jar files then you will have to try re-installing the apps/games on your N97. Remember that some apps might not be compatible as your old N95 8GB ran S60v3 fp1 whereas the N97 packs S60v5.

Video's should be transferable but they may have to be located in a particular directory for the switch application to find them.

Re: Tranfer old files to new phone

Use the file manager in the applications tab to find any files that you put on there and cant view in your gallery. Sometimes when the file isnt supported it remains hidden in the phones memmory.

I've used the switch app to transfer between S60 devices - can take a little while over bluetooth, but it works absolutely perfectly!
