FAO Groundy

Hello,

I know that you have vast knowledge of all things Scart and Gamecube, so I hope you can help me.

I have ordered a UK Gamecube, and want to use it with an RGB scart lead. I have just found out an old 3rd party Scart lead that will fit the Cube, and want to know if it is RGB capable.

I opened the scart connector casing and can see 4 wires connected to pins. The colours are as follows:

Orange
White
Black
Yellow

There is also a green wire looped between 2 pins.

So is this lead capable of RGB?

If not, is the official nintendo lead teh best one to get?

Many thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

Can you list the Pin numbers that the wires are connected too? If the Scart plug is wired for stereo audio (Pins 2 & 6) then it isn't wired for RGB as there would only be 2 wires left. It sounds like it's just wired for Composite Video but once you list the Pin numbers I can say for sure.

The official PAL RGB Cable is the best one to get for PAL Cube owners. There are one or two 3rd party leads that will do the job but they are not constructed as well.

Hi Groundy,

Thanks for your reply.

Indeed pins 2 and 6 are being used, so it looks like a composite scart lead. Looks like I will be buying a Official Nintendo one then.

Cheers

Rob

Shop around for the official one - it can usually be had for cheaper on eBay .

On eBay - around £10. In the high-street, anything up to £25 .

Just checked eBay - no official ones on there at the moment .
