The best PES game ever?

I was reading the an article in the Nintendo magazine about the history os PES leading upto the Wii release. I saw a game I'd never heard of - 'Disney Football'......its Disney characters with the PES engine...dated 2002. Ive just bought it and played it with some mates...ITS PURE GENIUS!!!! Shame it was only ever released on the GC....anyone else played or tried?...You really must

Can't say I've heard of that one either(not that I'm really into football games TBH). Not many games that completely slipped under the radar on the Gamecube for me, must have been a very quite release.

Re: The best PES game ever?

Same here - not heard of that one. I have played every version in the pes series (back to ISS on the 64 ) so missed that one. Sounds like a laugh though!

I have to disagree with you there. PES 2008 Wii is definitely the best one so far imo.

Re: The best PES game ever?

best PES game is the 6th for 360 it was pure genius. The most recent for PS3 and 360 PES 08 is good but nothing compared to the previous ones.

Re: The best PES game ever?

Sorry guys, I beg to differ!

The most enjoyable version of PES in my personal opinion is the Japanese-only Gamecube version titled, Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution. It played 'just right' in that it was responsive and fast. The series then went on to attempt a more realistic experience with sluggish controls and mechanical 'feel'.

regards FRANC

i have this game and its great (was also on PS2) compared to the other PES games, ie: PES3 and 4 (which i also loved)

BUT none of these compare to the absolute brilliance thatis PES2008 on Nintendo Wii, easily the best football game ever made as its pretty much the first one to evolve in any major way...

The 2011 version is cracking with a classic controller, played almost 2 seasons in ML and it is definitely worth a go, old classic pro evo gameplay with 360 movement.

Thanks mate, will have a look at that. I've also got a 360, does it beat that version?

I am a fan of the old school games more, I like the 360 version and it is very good game in its own right, hard and frustrating to learn, but the trouble was for me once I learned it it became a bit expolitable.

I have only been playing the wii version for a few weeks and almost 2 seasons in ML but I do seem to be enjoying it more.

Winning Eleven 6 and 7 was my fave and had it all patched with proper kits and stadiums on PS2.

For me it is winning eleven 7 & 9 (I.e. PES 3 & 5). They certainly had faults but the game play was superbly refined in both of those titles, in different ways.

WE7 (PES3) was all out attacking fun where as WE9 (PES5) kept the tight gameplay but was a better game in terms of the defensive performance and was probably the best game overall.

I enjoyed the wii version of pes 2008 and the controls were a nice touch, but for me defending was just not intuitive enough and took a fair bit of effort before it became that useable and even then it was not an ideal system. Being able to plan out your attacks was great fun though!

I've liked the PC Versions of late but whilst they are technically good, they just lack something for me.

ISS Deluxe on the SNES, closely followed by PES 2008 for the 360 for me. Just loved the "make your own hideous kit" on the SNES, and 2008 on the 360 was about the right balance for me in terms of controlability, visuals and longevity.

Pes 5 no doubt, 1 and 3 were also great, PES6 was awful and the beginning of the end imo.
