No and no I'm afraid. You are blocked from copying CD-R's. The only digital outputs I have seen are optical.

Not sure what I am about to say will mean to the answer of the question but.....

The other day I purchased the double CD CREAM SPRING ANTHEMS. It has some great tracks that I wanted to listen to whilst playing PGR.

I tried to copy the tracks onto my X-BOX but after two minutes the X-BOX just gave me an error message saying it could not read the disc ( even though it would play the tracks )

Bugger I thought and gave up but not before making a copy of the CD ( for personal use ) on my laptop. Once this was done I tried copying the tracks onto my X-BOX this time from the newly created duplicate. It worked !!

somewhat of the track but..
does anyone know if the xbox is prevented from reading cdr's because of a hardware limitation (eg single wave laser) or because of a software one (perhaps due to copywrite issues)
the reason i ask is that i was hoping to see a mame emulator on the box but unless they can get past the limitation of no cdr playback it will never happen.

Duncan, i've tried a lot of cdr's in my xbox but none have worked could you please tell me the exact brand and type of cdr you used?

thanks.
Nathan
