N64 - what is the best quality video out put? S-Video/RGB etc

Hi

What is the best picture I can expect to squeeze out of any N64? And how do I achieve this (i.e. what cable is best).

Is it worth the effort, or does the N64 fuzzy/foggyness make it a waste of time?

I use a Japanese Nintendo 64 S-video cable and it's a huge improvement over composite. Never tried RGB though.

The PAL N64 does not support RGB Scart unfortunately, so I suppose the best you can hope for is S-Video.

Can I get this via a Scart Socket? I.E. S-video through scart?

Pal n64s will do Svideo, you want to get the cable with the thick S-video cable tho as the other thin ones do composite over svideo.

NTSC n64s only support composite, no s-video, but you can hack it to use RGB scart

Not true. My Japanese N64 is used with an official Japanese Nintendo 64 S-video cable, which I bought when I lived in Japan.

eBay would be your best bet, or you may get lucky in a Gamestation.

I've got an n64 from hong kong - plays us and jap carts, I'm toying with the idea of hooking up the n64 to my projector but might just save the lamp life and hook back up to the good old crt. I'll have to have a trawl in gamestation or ebay as you say.
