Favourite Nintendo Game Ever?

What's your favourite game to appear on any Nintendo console ever? Doesn't have to be made by Nintendo, just a Nintendo only format game.

I've thought long and hard about this and I just have to name Secret of Mana for the Super Nintendo.

I must have been around 12 or 13 when I got that game, I can still remember walking into a shop at Lakeside on the day it was released and the feeling of excitement when I walked back out with my beautiful green copy of thsi game. A game I had been looking forward to ever since reading the review in Super Play magazine.

This was the first game that really got me into RPGs, sure Zelda was good, but had never captivated me like Secret of Mana did from the moment I started playing it. An amazingly emotional story, beautiful graphics, locations and one of the best video game soundtracks I've ever heard to this day. In fact I even recorded it onto a cassette so I could listen to it in a walkman!

Finishing that game was like splitting up from someone you loved, great while it lasted but impossible to take once it was over!

Sadly, whilst I still have a fully working SNES, I made the mistake of lending that game to someone at school, about a week before I moved to a different one, so never got the game back.

Guess I'll buy another copy one day on ebay, but you know what they say, you can never go back. I'm sure it won't feel the same.

To anyone who hasn't played it, you really should try.

So what's everyone else's favourite?

Mine would have to be Super Metriod, the huge bosses, ah joy. This was back when a game took hours, and I mean hours to complete. Yes I enjoyed Mana, also Crono Trigger, and the Herculean Final Fantasy, but Metroid takes the crown. Games today are way too short, COD on X360 took two evenings to complete on normal!

Oh god now your asking

Erm cant pick just one I'm afraid so I've wittled it down to 5 (sorry)
  • Axelay
  • Adventures of Batman & Robin
  • Castlevania 4
  • Contra 3
  • Batman Returns

I think though out of those my most played game would have been Castlevania 4 loved that game.

Sorry I couldnt give you just one

Is it just me or does anyone else honestly think the SNES was THE best console ever made??

Neil

Mario Kart for me. It's probably the most played Nintendo game (across different consoles), I love the cartoony graphics, the racing mechanics and it's just so much fun (especially in multiplayer!)

Can't believe no-ones mentioned Super Mario World on the SNES. Can remember buying my SNES on launch getting this home and being totally blown away buy it, possibly the best launch game ever.

Tetris is a strong contender to, although suppose it doesnt count as it's been out on so many formats - probably my most played game ever

Probably either Zelda: Link to the Past on SNES, or Ocarina of Time on N64 - both utterly, utterly stunning huge games. Mind you - Twilight Princess may possibly be the game to overhaul these two - I live in hope!!

Anyway, I can't believe it took 9 posts for someone to mention Ocarina of Time. What an amazing game, start to finish. One of the most immersive and well-rounded games ever.

Can't pin it down to one, but i'd go with:

Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
Zelda: Link's Awakening (GB)
Super Mario Bros. (NES)
Animal Crossing (DS & GC)
Mario Kart (DS & SNES)
Goldeneye (N64)
WCW vs NWO (N64 ...seriously!)

It just has to be goldeneye for me.

Never has a any game to this day that ive played kept me entertained as long as goldeneye. I must have completed the story mode well over a hundred times through, unlocking all the bonuses and generally exploring the levels.

Then you come to probably the best multiplayer game ever created IMHO, simply not hours of fun, years of fun ive had out of this with my friends. To this day will still talk about our 15 hr beer filled sessions on it, come to think of it i want it back now

Could not get into the GC version for some reason, however I always come back to the GBA version. Can't wait to get a DS so I can play the latest and greatest!

Cant really pick a actually favourite so id just say the main favourites instead

Super Mario World (Snes)
Zelda - Link to the past (Snes)
Super Mario Kart (Snes)
Super Metroid (Snes)
Zelda - oot (N64)
Goldeneye (N64) if it counts as its not a nintendo game

I think Gamecube zelda wouldve been abit better if it hadnt got them boring sailing bits in the game

true, but goldeneye was first and is bond.

tho i think sometimes PD can be overdone in multiplayer

i loved both. shame about pdz limiting guns you can carry, would of been alot better

Without a shadow of a doubt, Link to the Past on the SNES is my favourite ever game - Saying that, Animal Crossing Wild World is giving it a wee run for it's money, its a wonderful game - Those that come so very close, are Super Mario World and Super Mario Kart, both SNES again!

Very tricky indeed to pick just one so i'll break it down to a few genre's .

Fave Ninty FPS - Goldeneye (closely followed by Metroid Prime)
Fave Ninty RPG - Zelda OOT (closely followed bt Secret of Mana & Zelda LTTP)
Fave Ninty Racer - Mario Kart (closely followed by F-Zero)
Fave Ninty Beat em up - SF2

Those have to be my 4 fave Ninty games. I tried to pick one and just couldn't! Mario Kart, SF2 and Goldeneye simply provided more multiplayer fun than you could think possible from a box full of silicone, plastic and wires . Zelda OOT is just a masterpiece - such an amazing game that words can never do it justice.

Seeing as the Cube has been my only console (unless you count the Atari 2600 many years ago), my choice seems to be restricted. I loved Super Monkey Ball, as much for being so different as for the gameplay, but the best for me has to be Animal Crossing.
I've got 3 kids, and all of them had characters, along with my missus (this is the only 'computer game' she's ever had any interest in) and myself, and if you added up the hours of gameplay this game had, it would be higher than all the other games added together.
We spent months and months playing this, so much so that we bought another cube to go in one of the kids rooms, just so we could get more hours in
