HD TV's, scaling and de-interlacing lag with gaming?

I've read that some people have problems with lag between pressing a button and seeing a response on-screen whilst gaming, when using non-progressive and low-res games. Obviously, this is a real killer if you like older systems, or use a PAL GC alot. Anyone have any experience of this, especially with the Samsung LEXXR41 line? I was interested in one, but all my gaming's non-progressive at the moment, and I'm concerned about the delay ruining gaming.

Thank you, is there any way for me to close the thread? I'll repost it in one of the other forums.

I have not seen this at all. I have a Gamecube running with my LE32R41BDX and I see no lagging. I do use a component cable to connect the Gamecube to my TV, but I played with a scart cable for 2 weeks before my component cable arrived anf I noticed not lag. But it is worth getting a Component cable, a freeloader, and some NTSC games. They look a lot better on this TV !!!!!

so youre suffering poor picture quality + you think the GC has poor graphics? something wrong there.

I played Mario Kart DD last night in 480i, and a bit of Metroid Prime after a week of PGR 3, and cant fault the Graphics at all, on the contrary I wonder what all the fuss is about, sure things are improved but this is not the jump people are making it out to be, graphic technology is still the same just with a bigger poly count and more shading allowing the games to look prettier and run faster.
If you worry more about picture quality and graphical powers than gameplay, avoid the Revolution, its not for you, Nintendo are aiming the machine at different gamers.

The only machine I can go back to, and in comparison say the graphics are "poor" is the original Playstation

I think it comes down to what size display your using. I have a 100" high def picture and the gamecube looks great over component, being crisp and with no lag, but does not obviously look as good as high def games on the PC/Xbox. I would be very suprised if Ninty didn't make the new Revolution hi def ready with the amount of people with hi def sets out there, especially when you consider a game console has a life span of about 5 years.

i think you got the wrong end of the stick.

i've always been a ninty fan since the nes, its just when playing windwaker and fzero(not the most ideal games i know) it looked pants. now i know it will be more to do with my tv's scaling but it handles 720P marvelous.

i just really wish they do 720P as the lack of it on the GC stops me from enjoying my old games on my new tv

EDIT: oh and to add to that, i think the original mario bros 3 still looks fantastic today

While it may not offer 720p, do you think the Revo will offer progressive scan for games out of the box?

i pondered the same thing. as it has to play GC games id presume itd have to support 480P (tho im sure as with every generation they will screw the UK over again)

im hoping against hope that they will support 720P esspecially if they want accuracy in their new way of playing games!

Well if it has at least 480p standard for every game then I'd be satisfied.
