I think you will find that Craig is probably very busy at the moment, with all the psp orders, and the fair that he was involved in over the weekend. I have tried to contact him since Friday, but have yet to recieve a reply. I did see him say that PSPs were out of stock on Sat eve, and that he would be sorting all the orders out today, and Tues, on another forum.

Hang in there, it is a very good price!! And I have always found Movietyme very good in the way of service.

I emailed Craig over the weekend about a PSP but no reply yet i guess they are pretty busy with being at the NEC at the weekend.

I have used Movietyme a few times for DVDs in the past and have never had a problem so when I read on here Thursday night that they were offering Value Packs for £159.99 delievered I had to order one but in the end I ordered a Wipeout Pure Bundle for £182.99 as I knew I would be able to sell on Wipeout for at least £25 and it just seemed easier to order a Bundle off their website than try to sort out an order just for a Value Pack.

Also, instead of waiting for it to be delievered I asked if I could pick it up from them at the Memorabilia event they were attending over the weekend and Craig said that wouldnt be a problem so I picked mine up Saturday

He did mention when I picked it up that I was very lucky so I am guessing they sold out very quickly but hopefully for people who missed out they will be getting more stock in.

Got an email saying it has been shipped but it says from the USA depot and will take 7 to 14 days to arrive although it does say further down that if it is a UK next day delivery then the delivery times will differ.

I had an email earlier in the week to say it would be shipped Friday and will be first class special delivery so I assume the email I received was just an auto generated one.

Do they deliver special delivery parcels on a Saturday or will I have to wait for Monday. It is has not arrived by Tuesday I will worry. I will not be a happy Bunny if I get a customs bill as Craig did state that these will be shipped from the UK.

After checking the Movietyme forum it seems that when you get an email saying your order has been dispatched (if instock inside the UK) it means that it has hit the UK postal system so you should have it anytime now.
Also, Special Delievery is only a next day service Monday to Friday but Special Delievery items do get delievered on Saturdays, its just that if its posted Friday it doesnt mean that you will defently get it next day, it will have the same chance of arriving as any First Class piece of post.

They said they would check mine also but found a dead pixel on it but considering what I have been reading on another forum about someone who has returned their PSP 7 times because they all had 2-7 dead pixels, I think getting a single bad pixel is pretty good.

Yep got it at 0930 this morning so they do deliver.

Right time to ask for some advice so I can pass it on.
I am currently 120 miles out on an offshore oil rig and the PSP was for my son. I am away for another 10 days.

However my wife has no clue about these things whatsoever and the PSP is totally dead as expected. Because it has the US plug on the end for the charger she is bamboozled.
Can someone tell me if all that is required is to cut off the plug and wire a UK plug on the end due to the unit being a 110v to 240v. I think she should be capable of changing the plug if that is the case.

I do have a 110 to 240 tranformer which I got for a clock which I imported from the states. She is claiming though that the plug for that has round pins but the PSP pins are big and square. I though all US plugs were 2 pin squarish flat

Failing that he will have to stare at his blank screen until I get home.

thanks Guys
Darren

Rigman

Just get a standard figure 8 cable (about 2.99 from Maplins) and it'll plug straight in to the charger and work. No bizarre adaptor required!

Thanks Sadmuppet

Do you mean a figure 8 cable just like the sky /Xbox / gamecube etc power cable.
It is so frustrating for me being here and not being able to sort it out for him. I would have sussed that in about 10 milliseconds had I been home. I will ask her to do that.

But at least it'll be sorted out tomorrow (In theory )

And yes - one of those type cables Seems to be standard Sony these days (same thing for a Digi Cam I bought in Canada).

Just looked on the MT site and the PSP value pack with Wipeout Pure has gone up from £183 to £215. No longer the bargain as I paid a combined price of less than £200 to import a PSP from NCSX and Wipeout from DvdSoon. Wish I'd ordered one at the £183 price for my brother now.

PSP + Wipeout £215 at Movietyme

Looking at the games on MT are the prices including Del and do you get taxed? I have read they have been shipping the PSPs within the UK is this the same with games? Been getting some games from Video Games Plus as they are cheap but add Del in there coming to about the same price as MT and if MT ship within the UK its obviously going to be quicker.

the wife managed to get it charged so I have one happy little boy now.

The original movityme price was good but now is not so good at all. How can that price be justified after they have sold them for a cheaper price last week. I would have bought another one for myself but will wait now and steal my sons from him

I would hazard a guess at "Supply & Demand". I still think it's unbelieveable that any company's price should be over inflated - $250 is roughly £125. Add tax and profit to that and £160-£170 seems reasonable. Movietyme (in their defence) are not the only ones though. It's not as though they are difficult to obtain either - Axel Music emailed me and told me that there are a LOT more PSP's out there than games (as they are finding that sourcing games is much harder!).

I'm sure the bubble will burst when the European version is out or the US market is flooded. Hold tight

A PSP value pack and a game retails for $300. Add 17.5% vat and that's roughly £195. Leaving £20 profit margin.

Wasn't adding a game - just referring to the PSP pack, hence $250, which is £132 (using XE.Com). Games retail from $39.99 (Ridge Racer - $39.99 on Amazon - no price reduction shown), not $49.99 as well, so you are looking at $290 which £153.53.

If you know someone in the US who can send it and mark the value down - that's a result.

With VAT at 17.5% on that figure, it's £180.39. Add £4 PO fee if sent via Royal Mail (from Amazon say) and it's £184.39. That's £30 profit margin - and I'm sure that companies aren't buying at street prices either (as they are buying in bulk, plus Movietyme have US offices and therefore would have a distributor that would give them, probably 8-10% mark down from retail).

If you really want a PSP - it's probably better to import yourself.

Craig posted in the Movietime forum that they had to increase the price as they were sourceing the new batchs of PSP from another supplier but at only £20 more than before with no customs it is still a fair price compared to Axel Music and some other retailers.
