Can i still use the hi-def connection kit if my PAL xbox is not modded?

I plan to mod the xbox in a couple of months (When warranty finishes).

But in the mean time I want to sort out my cabling and I want to use the hi-def to connect my xbox.

Will I still be able to play my games? I know it won't be in hi-def.
