Amazing it's not going to support 1020i, infact not ever 720p , plain old vanilla 480p

Hi SimonH.

I hate to sound like pedantic nob, but it is 1080i not 1020i.

Like you say, I am supprised that Microsoft haven't added the hidef option into Halo 2, but it may be because they couldn't get it to run smooth enough at the higher resolution? Either way, Halo 2 is my most anticipated game of 2004 on the XBOX.

Cheers

Rob

I'm terrible with the minutia on resolution details. I keep saying 1080p as well and 720i etc. Mind you I can see it's causing you friction so I'm keeping it up :-)

Yes huge shame no hif def output on Halo 2, but like yourself I will still be buying it pre -order and seeing as no hi-def option I might as well buy the UK version.

I'd prefer it to have perfectly smooth 60fps at 640x480 than juddering gameplay at a higher resolution.

From Microsoft's perspective, this is their biggest release ever...if the game came out with a crap framerate, loads of slowdown and loss of detail, because the game was running in 720p or higher, then it would be terrible for Microsoft and the XBox's image in the future

480p still looks great when implemented properly. And its easily the best quality you can get from any of the consoles at the moment.

Sure, agreed on both points. At the end of the day I guess you can only do much with the hardware you have to work with, but dammit, I don't want realities. I want miracles!!

Can't say I ever though Halo looked bad even holding up to my 9700 pro on many PC Games, but having seen 1020i now it really is sheer quality on my plasma
