Thinking of an X Box and know some are in 5.1, but are all?
How can you find out online if it is or not before buying

5.1

Just had a look through mine and not one isn't 5.1.
I think most if not all are 5.1.

I know that Gamespot generally say if it is Dolby Digital in their newer reviews.

I think there are some games that don't, such as a few conversions of games from other consoles. A lot of games are in 4.1 though (no center channel).

Many games on the xbox are only two channel stereo with reverb added and upmixed to 5.1, from memory Timesplitters 2 is DD4.0 so is Shenmue 2 but has 5.1 cutscenes.
They all sound very good though and seem to be getting better
