hi just a quick question.

have a modded xbox and pioneer plasma would like to get hd working i can set x-box to ntsc but will my pal games still run or do i need american games.

probably a silly question as im sure i need american games

Games are essentially identical with different region coding.

A "Pal" game will play fine on a modded xbox ouputting NTSC. Halo (Pal) for example runs at 480p with hi-def kit on my modded (Pal) xbox which is set to NTSC.
