Snes set up on analouge tv no sound issue

Hi,
i just bought a jvc analouge tv second hand £20 to play my old consoles on.
but when i turn everything on, i dont get any sound from the game, theres just a fuzz noise.
the picture is fine, just no sound, i dont know why?
The snes works fine on my 14 inch portable, but not on this tv, is it worth mentioning that the tv was bought from germany origionally? and wondered if that has out to do with it.
any ideas??
steve

Re: Snes set up on analouge tv no sound issue

Hi Steve, yes the fact that it's a German TV is the problem. They use PAL B/G over there, which carries the audio on a different frequency (we use PAL-I here).
There's two options (I'll start with the easiest). If the set has a SCART or A/V input, you can purchase the necessary cable(s) for your console(s) and connect it up that way. This will bypass the TV's tuner and you'll get the audio no problem (and a better picture).

The second option relates to changing the audio frequency. If the set is relatively modern (with on-screen display) it may be possible to change the frequency over in a hidden engineers menu (before doing so, check the normal setup menu for any mention of localization/ audio/ tuner options etc).
Try asking for the info and procedure here (quote TV's full model number). If not, then it may not be feasible as it will require hardware modification.
