New to gaming - compatibility problems or is it me?

Hi new to all of this. The last time I bought a game was when Atari were big in the last century. It's all of course changed and I finally succumbed to the kids and got them a wii at xmas and the wii fit ostensibly for the wife.

Here in the Emirates there are lots of different systems. The guy who sold me the console sold me on the PAL which would be OK for when we return to the UK. Seemed fair but they didn't have the wii fit which I went elsewhere for.

The guy who sold me the board said it would play on the PAL, however it has USZ on it which makes me think I was sold a turkey not least because it won't synchronise and the accompanying discs cannot be read. Given that this is a part of the world where refunds and exchanges are not exactly the norm, is there any way around this?

Cheers.

Re: New to gaming - compatibility problems or is it me?

He hasn't lied to you about the Wii Fit board .. .. .. not quite.

The board CAN be used with a PAL Wii as none of the hardware is region specific, but if the accompanying software is from the US then the software can't be used on your PAL Wii as the software is region locked.

I think that if refunds are out of the question then your only real choice is to ebay the Wii Fit and buy a PAL version of the software and board. As Wii Fit is still scarce you shouldn't have much problem getting what you paid for it.

Thanks for the response. I'd best take a teenager with me next time I go game buying.
