Sell PS2 OR NOT.

Hi Folks,
My 3 children were lucky to get a Nintendo Wii from Santa for Christmas along with a couple of games. My eldest boy's latest intention is to sell his PS2 & Games to buy more games for the WII. While I am not too familiar with both systems - is this a good idea or not?

If your son still plays on it then I'd say keep it.

I wouldn't have thought you'd get much for the PS2. You might want to check around.

I'm not one for hording old consoles and games as I never go back to the old after I've bought a new one. So I'd say sell it and it doesn't matter what you get for it at least you're getting money for it so you can buy something you're going to use....better that than it sitting in the loft gathering dust.

the ps2 has alot of good games at the moment that any age can appreciate, the wii, has alot of "shovelware" or, rubbish that people make for it in a month because its selling well. I would keep the ps2 for now as there are so many good games. The wii still has very good games but, sticking with nintendo games only will mean you wont get rubbish (most of the time). There are ALOT of bad wii games so don't let your kids pick anything up if it looks ok and make you foot the bill. i would suggest using www.metacritic.com, search the game, it will give the average score of all the proffesional reviews on that game, so if something is a 70 etc you will know it will be ok.

So, in conclusion, don't be hasty to sell the ps2, there is alot of good stuff on there and the wii seems like it has only a few games that are really worth the money each year. When your son doesn't play on it for 6 months, then sell it

I recently sold my PS2 and 10 games for £70 on Ebay. The games were fairly old, circa 2004 and older. A boxed PS2 should get about £35 depending on condition and if it's still in original box. A slimline model might get more, not too sure of latest prices from Ebay or CEX.

I enquired aboiut the trade in value of my PS2 at gamestation over the weekend. They said £35.
