Christmas Wii

This is the second Christmas with my Wii and yet again Nintendo do nothing to mark it! Last year there was rumours of free virtual console games nothing happened. I would of been happy with just a Happy Christmas message in my inbox or snow on the Mii parade, just a little somthing to mark the day.

A few years ago Sega gave us Christmas Nights on the Saturn and there was a Halloween Loco Roco level on the PSP so why nothing for Christmas on Wii?!

Re: Christmas Wii

I don't think I'm moaning or being petty, just thought it would be nice what with it being Christmas

Google quite often decorate their logo and a lot of web sites have decorated their home pages for christmas. It's just a bit of fun isn't it?

On a game like Mario they could easily cover the main 'gate way' level with snow for a few weeks. I thought the whole idea behind Christmas Nights on the saturn was fantastic

Re: Christmas Wii

but you must be able to see the difference between drawing some white on a few textures or knocking something up for the web and rendering new things in 3D and recoding for all sort of other stuff that i dont even understand... and for a freebie? dont think we will see much more of that in these coming years mate

Re: Christmas Wii

Maybe, but it's certainly a nice surprise when it happens

There's a little bit on Christmas Nights here for people who haven't heard of it

The game uses the Saturn's internal clock to change elements of the game according to the date. In November and January, the title screen label "NiGHTS: Limited Edition" is changed to "Winter NiGHTS", with the lush greenery of the environment being replaced by white snow. During December, "Christmas NiGHTS" mode is activated, resulting in further Christmas-themed alterations, such as item boxes becoming Christmas presents, Nightopians dressing in elf costumes, and Christmas trees replacing Ideya captures. The background music is replaced by an instrumental version of "Jingle Bells", as well as there being a "Christmas-like" rendition of the boss theme. Other cosmetic changes are visible on New Years day, and loading the game on April Fools Day results in Reala replacing NiGHTS as the playable character.
