Re: £10 off all wii hardware and software

it looks like a new business just set up as in the contact us details it says vat number pending which i would have thought all business to have, a bit suspicious.

Re: £10 off all wii hardware and software

Sorry you’re wrong! you only need to register for vat in the uk if your turnover is over £54,000 or you can register under this limit as most uk traders do, placing "vat number pending" like so many uk companies do while they wait for a vat number is not suspicious but common practise! It allows the trader to claim and charge vat while the application is being process there is a time frame of 2-18 weeks on this depending on what county the business is based.

I know this as an I am an accountant well in training at least!

Re: £10 off all wii hardware and software

It is a new business as RJLectronics Ltd was incorporated just four months ago - around the same time as the domain name was purchased.

My advice is always that it's better to pay a little more to an established trader as it lessens the risk of losing money if the business fails and with the huge amount of businesses that fail in the first year I personally don't think it's a risk worth taking.

I'm an ACA in training ... just came on the forums after revising the VAT chapter! The turnover is actually £61,000 before having to compulsory register for VAT (2006/2007 rates).

Also a company would only voluntarily register if they were

a) to reclaim VAT (unlikely)

or

b) hide their size to make them seem more reputable then they actually are!!! (more likely reason)

Regards

I'd also like to point out the terrible grammar on their website.

Re: £10 off all wii hardware and software

I'm having the exact same problem with rjlectronics...ordered a Wii bundle over 3 weeks ago. The admin replied to my first few emails, saying they were expecting stock etc etc...then the order status was set to Shipped on Thursday the week before last, but the delivery company (City Link) hasn't received anything...I've emailed 3 or 4 times in the last week or so and no replies Plus I can't find a phone number for them anywhere...

Also if you look at the feedback rating on eBay, the last couple of entries are negative...hope we're not getting scammed!!

Re: £10 off all wii hardware and software

I too made a recent order with them and have searched the net for a telephone number as they won't reply to emails.

Waited around 3 weeks now for 2 DS games - don't think I'll be getting them now. Can't find a telephone number but did find this...

The info I have found is that the companies address is also the same as "Keltec Imaging Ltd".

Companies house have this data:

http://www.companiesgate.co.uk/KELTE...G+LIMITED.aspx

If anyone has the telephone number for them please post.

I also thought you could search for a local company. ie a company who trade from Richmond Road too.....and ask them if RJLectronics are still trading from the address.

Re: £10 off all wii hardware and software

Oh dear.....I've just found this link which I believe will confirm we got scammed:

http://community.dcmag.co.uk/forums/thread/160166.aspx

I think "Kelteccameras.co.uk" (which has the same Post Code address as RJLectronics), scammed a few people is 2005.

Re: £10 off all wii hardware and software

Bit more information about "Keltec Cameras" which will also gives us a little more information about RJlectronics.

The company is owned by Mr John Murphy who I assume owns RJlectronics.

Re: £10 off all wii hardware and software

Thanks for the info chrisjoanne.

I just had the PayPal claim I raised decided in my favour, but - surprise surprise - there was no money in the seller account so they couldn't recover any funds for me. £250 down the drain!!

Based on the links you've provided it looks like I'm going to have to go through Trading Standards and file a fraud report with my bank to try to get my money back

If anyone's thinking of using RJLectronics - DON'T!!

Re: £10 off all wii hardware and software

Just a quickie.....I had a telephone call from a guy from RJLectronics on Monday (30th July) but unfortunately I've been quite bad recently and couldn't take his call.
He said he would call back but hasn't.
Just wondering what he was wanting.....I have sent 3 or 4 emails demanding the money is but back into my account.
It would have been nice to have a chat as you can't get hold of anyone as they don't provide a telephone number.
If I do manage to speak to someone, I'll let you know.

Re: £10 off all wii hardware and software

Thanks a lot Chris - that would be much appreciated.

It's weird that he phoned you...I received an email from RJLectronics today, but all it had in the body was a greeting and nothing else. A bit weird but I'm assuming it was some sort of automated email that was sent out by the accounting software he's using.

Anyway for the time being I've emailed Consumer Direct with my situation (http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/con...ction=complain) - they're partnered with Trading Services so I'll see if they can do anything and let you know the outcome.
