Nintendo 64 - Help

Okay here goes, my coaxial lead that came with the N64 has basically broke, bad times, so im intending to get another one but was wondering if there are different types of coaxial leads? Can anyone help? Im sure there were different ends to the lead but im not 100%.

Also does anyone know of any compatability problems with the Nintendo 64 and a Samsung R8 Series 19" LE19R86BD HD??

Does it have to be coaxial? I use the lead off my Gamecube on mine, works a treat. If you look around on eBay you can find all different types of leads for them, I'm sure I've seen an RGB one on there.

Ive read a few people have had problems with the RGB cable with regards to the picture, has anyone experianced this?

N64s do not output RGB. I found this out before reading about it on the internet when I tried to use my GameCube RGB SCART cable with my N64 - sound only.

Some models (early NTSC and very early French ones from what I've read) can be modded to output RGB but other than that, S-Video is the best you can get.

You need something like this. Not RGB, just composite, which is what the N64 outputs. Although those ones are used, I'd go for a used official cable over a new cheapo one, as in my experience the official ones were better-made.
Anyway, I don't know if you realised that the only way to get stereo sound from the N64 is to use an AV cable; the coax only carries mono. If you've got a surround system you can connect the audio outputs directly to that instead of the TV (they can be disconnected from the SCART adapter) and you can enjoy surround sound on those games that have it.
As far as s-video goes, the resulting picture is generally too bright to be useful without modifying the cable (I tried it), so the composite is going to be the best that you'll get without resorting to soldering a resistor into the connector plug. In any case the composite picture will be a good improvement over the coaxial one .
