This just missed out on being included in our extensive Review of Samsung's Smart TV offering by virtue of turning up just after it was published. It's yet another addition to the Samsung App Store in the shape of the Digital Theatre App that brings some of the most critically acclaimed productions from British theatre into homes around the world.
Working in partnership with Britain’s leading theatre companies including the Young Vic, Royal Shakespeare Company, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and the Almeida Theatre, Digital Theatre capture productions in High Definition from multiple camera angles in front of a live audience.
Digital Theatre enables theatre fans to watch plays including; All My Sons with David Suchet, Much Ado About Nothing with David Tennant and Parlour Song with Toby Jones in the comfort of their own homes.
“The launch of the Digital Theatre App onto Samsung Smart TV opens up the world of theatre to the public, allowing people to choose what they want to see, when they want to see it. The drama of the performance is intensified through the picture and sound quality of the range, creating a incredibly immersive experience for viewers.” said Lali Parikh, Strategic Content Manager, TV, Samsung UK.
“Over the past three years building Digital Theatre we've captured the best of British theatre and made it available to a global audience. Launching onto Samsung Smart TV allows us to move off the desktop and into the living room for the first time. We’re thrilled to be able to share high quality theatre with the world with Samsung.” said Robert Delamere, Co-Founder / CEO, Digital Theatre.
The new App will be available on Samsung 2012 Smart Interaction enabled models.
