Samsung offering £50 Acetrax Incentive against New Smart Product Purchases

Continuing Today's 'Smart Offensive' Samsung has just announced that customers purchasing selected Samsung Home Entertainment systems, Blu-ray Players and Personal Video Recorders will also receive £50 of Acetrax movie credit.

From today until the end of October 2012, customers purchasing certain Samsung Blu-ray players and Home Theatre models will be able to redeem £50 worth of movie downloads of their choice from Acetrax - that is up to 20 free movie rentals.

The Acetrax Movies App allows viewers to ‘rent’ or ‘buy’ movies directly on their Samsung AV products through its pay as you go service ensuring people only pay for what they watch. The Acetrax Movies App offers Dolby Digital Plus surround sound audio on VoD content but is a little lacking in HD content at the moment.

The top 10 selling Acetrax movie titles from this year are:

1. Cowboys and Aliens

2. Super 8

3. Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

4. The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn

5. The Hangover Part 2

6. Puss In Boots

7. Abduction

8. Horrible Bosses

9. Kung Fu Panda 2

10. Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Russell Owens, Head of AV, Samsung Electronics UK said: “We’re delighted to offer customers this great movie promotion from Acetrax. It provides a great opportunity for customers to upgrade their home entertainment set up and receive instant movie rewards through the purchase of either a High Definition Personal Video Recorder, a Home Entertainment System or Smart Blu-ray product.”

Leslie Golding, CMO, Acetrax further added: “Getting the very latest movies direct to TV via broadband in full Dolby Digital Plus sound has to be one of the big stories of 2012. We are delighted to be offering this breakthrough with the world’s No.1 manufacturer of A/V devices. It will be offered in all of our online stores in Europe and will further enhance the cinematic enjoyment of big screen Hollywood movies on demand in the living-room”.

The Acetrax Movies App is available from the Samsung Smart Hub, which is built into many new products in the Samsung Blu-ray and Blu-ray Home Theatre range.

Customers can redeem their credit by visiting Acetrax Movie Promotion - Move Credit worth £50 - Samsung UK.

Buyer beware Samsung & Acetrax promotions.

I have bought the Samsung 5300-T from Argos with Acetrax £50 voucher as the main reason for purchase of a Smart TV. Contacted Acetrax as the 5300 does not have Acetrax installed, they say it`s Samsung issue. Contacted Samsung who say it`s up to Acetrax to monitor apps available. Contacted Samsung again (forwarding what Acetrax told me) and they now say that it`s an Argos promotion and it`s nothing to do with Samsung or Acetrax, and to contact Argos.
Basically buyer beware, read up on which items are actually available to use Acetrax before your purchase, just because it says you have a £50 voucher, it doesn`t mean you can use it with your shiny new TV. Oh, and although all details, receipts etc have been sent to Samsung/Acetrax I still haven`t received my £50 acetrax code. On my shiny new Samsung 8000 55" series TV, I did get a £50 Acetrax code through, tried to watch Ghost Rider 2 in HD, (picture reduces down to half screen size) movie stops after 58 minutes have tried 3 times to watch it, stops the same place every time - 100meg broadband speed so it`s not a speed issue, do Acetrax want to know - heckers like! Give it a go, but don`t expect much.

As TVKrazy notes, my 32" UE32EH5300 from Argos did come with the Acetrax voucher but the app doesn't come pre-installed nor is it available for download.

The BBC iPlayer App works after an firmware update and the Netflix app works but the netflix app doesn't appear to integrate with the Samsung Your Video feature. This is a shame as if Acetrax was present and both were linked to the App it would provide a handy interface to search for a specific film on VoD over both Netflix subscription and a pay as you go service. As it is, Your Video links only to Lovefilm which I don't subscribe to so if I can't find something a specific title I want to watch in Netflix I have to resort to the expensive iTunes Store on an Apple TV.
