Ok I have been with Vodafone for a couple of years now, no major issues, but indoor coverage can be poor at times, and sometimes when out and about the 3G coverage can be poor at times, but overall, no major problems.

Previously was with 3, hated them, signal in my area was crap both phone calls and 3G so not interested in them.

So was thinking about o2, how do people find them? Coverage, 3G out and about, calls, texts etc?

On the coverage checker they show full copverage of bars for indoors and out both phone and 3G, so guessing they would be a good one to go for.

I can get an iPhone 4S 16gb for free with £100 cashback, then £36 per month for calls, texts and 1gb of data, I wont go over that so thats not an issue for me.

My only concern is use abroad, with Voda I have this data traveller, where I get 25mb per day in Europe for free, is there something similar with o2 or are there data roaming rates reasonable? I wouldnt want to go over any data caps whilst abroad etc

Anyway, just thought I would get some thoughts from you guys?

Do you not have a neighbour, friend or relative on O2 you can borrow as a guinea pig? You do not say where you are but even if you did there is always the possibility the kitchen is the only room in the house without reception

You know my house then :-) The kitchen is always the one room that is awful for reception, doesnt matter what network, all the same :-)

I do have neighbours etc but being honest, where I live in a slight dip I think reception at home can be hit and miss anyway, the data at home isnt an issue as I can use my own wifi, so it was more the out and about situation, do people get generally good 3G coverage, or is it always good in town centres but the minute you leave a built up area it just freezes up?

Just mainly some user thoughts would be good?

get yourself a giffgaff sim mate. The network is owned by o2 and they offer some great deals on pay as you go with unlimited data and texts.

If you head to their site and go to their community forums, if you go under the considering joining giffgaff, if you click under a member's signature where you can order a free sim with £5 free credit.

When you receive the sim, activate it on their site, create your profile and once activated, check out the coverage, and if you're happy, buy the £10 goodybag to get your free credit.

With O2, you would you pay 25MB for £1.99 per day using O2 Travel provided you're inside of a qualifying country in Europe. See below...

"You'll only be charged £1.99 for the days that you use data in Europe - and you can use up to 25MB a day.

There's a connection charge of 50p for all calls made and received in Europe. When you make a call you'll be using your UK minutes and calls received are free up to 60 minutes. "

If you don't want O2 Travel, these would be the rates that you would pay but you have to opt out of O2 Travel...

Calls back to the UK and within Europe - 28p per minute.
Receiving calls in Europe - 7p per minute.
Texts sent to the UK and Europe – 8.5p (free to receive).
Sending a media message - 25p.
Data is 69p / MB.
