Mobile phone contract expiry

Hello,
I took out an 18 month contract in 2008 with Orange. I'm sure it expired last month, but haven't heard anything from Orange as to whether I want to carry it on, change plans, get a new phone or anything.
I want to cancel it, but don't know how to go about it. I hate calling people that I don't know as I'm a little hard of hearing and find it embarrassing keep asking them to repeat themselves (where as with family/friends it doesn't matter so much)
So was wondering if its possible to cancel in the Orange shop, or to write and cancel?
If I can write, where do I address it to and what information do I need to include?

Thank you in advance,
James

To clarify something for you, you didn't take out an 18 month contract you took out a contract with a minimum term of 18 months. So in month 19, it just carries on as before.

The only exception is if you had some special offer applied that only lasted 18 months, but this would be explained in the paperwork you received when you signed up.

In any case, you can leave it to run if you wish without doing anything.

If you want to cancel, phone Orange Customer Services in the first instance and ask them. They will no doubt put you through to retentions who will make you an offer to stay with them. But if you want to leave, you can do so and once past the minimum term you can usually do so over the phone.

If they wont let you cancel over the phone, ask for the address to write to.

You have to give 30 days notice to cancel even if you're past 18 months, so if you want to cancel, don't hang around too long.

On a related note, if you want to keep your current mobile phone number, ask for you PAC code. This is valid for 14 days and can be given to whichever network you move to next and will transfer your current number to that new network.
