PS3 will connect via WEP but not WPA-PSK

Hi all

Hopefully i'm missing something simple here..my PS3 will connect to my wireless network fine when WEP encryption is used, but when I switch to WPA-PSK it won't connect. I've changed the wireless settings on the PS3 to match the router configuration, but nothing works (WPA-PSK password is used not WEP one!)

If I just used WEP this wouldn't matter, but my problem is my Laptop won't connect via WEP (it will, but only for a very short time then I lose the connection) even though all settings are correct as far as I can tell! The WEP code is correct, encryption strength is correct and everything is fine on the configuration page so i've no idea what to try next.

So i'm stuck with either only the laptop connecting via WPA-PSK or only the PS3 via WEP!

Has anyone got any ideas what it could be? Router ius a netgear DG834G - I know it's not a WEP problem with the laptop as I can access my neighbours WEP network and she has the same router.

Thanks

Rob

Re: PS3 will connect via WEP but not WPA-PSK

It's a known issue with the PS3 and this router, basically you'll need to downgrade several versions and it'll work fine. Do a search for DG834, PS3 and WPA and you'll find it.

Thanks, I did a search before asking but couldn't find anything definite - a second search found it! I downloaded the older V4.01.06 firmware from the Netgear site and it's working fine now.

Re: PS3 will connect via WEP but not WPA-PSK

At last Netgear have posted a new driver that WILL work with PS3 and WPA-PSK!!

Go on their website and download the latest driver V4.01.37, I have just tried it after using WEP for a while and it works a treat.

Hope this helps.
