I looked on the Synology website and from scanning through it I think you can only do this with 1 drive, although I may have misunderstood it !!
I don't want RAID0 as I'd like to have the full space of the 2 drives available to me for storage without increasing the possibility of failure by having them striped.
As I'd be backing up to an external drive off the back of it I can't see the point of RAID1 either. RAID1 doesn't interest me because it's not a proper backup (IMHO).
