Do I need a different wifi dongle to connect wirelessly to fibre-optic

I have recently upgraded to fibre optic due to having only 0.4mb broadband speed where I lived, since I did this I cannot connect my daughters base unit upstairs using the old wireless USB dongle.

Do I need a different type of dongle to do this now that I am using fibre optic, I wouldn't have thought I did as all the laptops and phones still connect by just putting the new router key in.

Any help would be appreciated

No. The mechnism used to deliver broadband to your premise has no affect on the local wi-fi (or ethernet) infrastructure. They are all separate from each other.

It's possible that the new router (?) you got with your new service delivers wi-fi that's incompatible with your dongle, but that's somewhat unlikely.

Check that your wi-fi dongle and your new router offer some form of wi-fi that's mutually compatible. For example, if your dongle is "B" only compatible, and your router doesn't support "B" (or has it disabled) you wouldn't get a link.
