Hi guys. I have kind of an archaic mixing desk that I bought two years ago and never got round to mastering (or even really using). I was wondering if anyone give me any hints as to how to use it to record music and edit on my pc.

I have tried looking around (the web and this site) but have come to a stop because it just appears pretty tough to find anything for such an old bit of kit. Nearly a decade old now (worth £600 in its time).

Any help?

Hi by the looks of it that desk is a self contained unit with a hard drive so you should be able to record and edit within the unit itself.

What advantages are you hoping for by connecting to a PC?

Presuming it hasn't got a USB port probably the best way would be to connect it via audio so you'll need an audio interface of some sort. However you'll lose the multitrack granularity so for example you won't be able to mix the levels as you would be able to do within the machine itself.

I’m still using the 488 mkii cassette 8 track.

What specifically are you having problems with?
