Novation Launchpad- Ableton Live Controller

Hey,
I know a few of followers of this forum use Ableton as their preferred DAW. Don't use it myself but have always wanted to get into it, spotted this new
product recently and have decided to take the plunge! Was wondering what everybody else thought about this dedicated controller? Personally I've always enjoyed Novation products so am hoping this is going to make my ableton exerience more exciting!

Take a look at the Akai APC-40 too.

Cheers, have already been looking at that as well. I think the Launchpad is better for me at the moment. The pricetag is a lot easier to justify, and i'll be hooking up my xiosynth to Ableton as well so will have some knobs for control as well.

Just waiting for my delivery now!

Definitely some similarities there, although this one doesn't produce any sounds. The main comparison is the Monome it seems. Looking forward to playing with it, see what I can do!

firstly as i haven't posted on these boards for quite some time i'd like to say ho great it is to discover a new section dedicated to all things musical, cheers stuart!

secondly i'm loving the prospect of tinkering with the launch pad, and like many others couldn't justify the price of the apc40.. my launchpad is on order from dv247 apparently they are giving away the sleeve for it free to the first one hundred customers that pre-order it!! nice!

I've oreered from there as well. Fingers crossed we get the sleeve, but I've a feeling I left it too late. Hoping for an early delivery this week!

i'm defo getting the free sleeve with mine i've been tipped the wink over at dv247s forums...

if this works out nicely i might even move to doing everything back inside the box.. then i can get shot of the mpc and the micron.. used live 7 for quite a while but the lack of a dedicated hardware interface for clip launching etc always put me off.. fingers crossed for the solution i have been hoping for! the review in future music sounded very promising..

Ah, so your Smash at those forums as well! Well I ordered mine a few days ago so I'll see. This will hopefully make my introduction to Ableton a bit more fun, but could be the other way round!

Computer Music gave it top marks as well.

Had my email this morning to confirm dispatch! Didn't mention the free cover though, so not sure if that's happening. Oh well, just can't wait to get it now!

got mine today with free sleeve included

very very pleased with it, makes the whole process of creating and launching live sets a pleasure imho.. so i guess it's of to market now for the old mpc and micron, may well treat myself to live suite with the proceeds!! all the best!

Yep, mines arrived with free sleeve! Smells like a new pair of trainers. Will get it going in a bit, very excited. Glad your enjoying so far, I'll let you know how I get on.
