Microphone advice needed

Hi,

odd request - I'm after a microphone for my son (3) so that I can plug this in to my amp and he can use the hifi to sing through. Does anyone know if:
a) You can get microphones with a line level output
b) are they any good
c) should I be looking at a more sensible way to do this.

I'm not looking at mixing this with music, just for him to sing along on his own!

Any ideas of help would be appreciated.

Maybe there's karaoke boxes that would do the trick in one box for quite cheap. I dunno.

If it is to go in to my amp though I need the signal to be quite good, as I don't want to end up damaging something along the way.

Cheers

EDIT: Would a phono pre-amp amplifier the signal properly? I have a spare MF X-LPS kicking around.

PS Mods: If you can find a better place for this please move it, but I didn't know where was best to post this question. The amplifier section seemed as good as any!

Re: Microphone advice needed

We'll try in here, if it doesn't get any response, then I'm not sure where else to put it.

hi mate, hope i can help.

when you mean amp, do you mean a guitar amplifier? if so then you can buy a microphone with a jack output lead (same as a guitar lead) My band uses this method as we have plenty of amps and no PA, should work fine, just turn the treble right down. Second, as far as a hifi is concerned, you should be able to buy a lead to go into the aux input on it, ive seen it done before.
