Re: RIP Les Paul

RIP indeed. I hope I go to my grave having achieved even a fraction of what he did.

I'm grabbing my LP now to pay my personal tribute.

Re: RIP Les Paul

Nice guy too. What a life...

Sad day, but not too sad. He achieved so much. I know many people who think Les Paul is the name of a guitar, not a man.
What a wonderful legacy.

RIP

Re: RIP Les Paul

Legend.
Even people who dont know who he is enjoy what he created on a daily basis.
Did anybody see the documentary about him on BBC 4 a few months ago? - If I remember rightly it was called something like Chasing Rainbows. Im sure it will be shown again soon after this sad news, he was way more influential on the way we hear music today, than just the Les Paul guitar.

A fella in work met Les Paul when he went to his bar - he said he was the coolest, nicest little guy ever. I was seriously thinking about trying to see him play at his bar and meet the guy... shame I took to long to think about it.

As long as kids keep picking up guitars way into the future - Les Pauls name will live on forever.
RIP x

Re: RIP Les Paul

Saw a clip of him from mid 90's on Conan O'Brien a few nights ago. What talent he had - even in his later years.

Massive loss.

Re: RIP Les Paul

You know Kieron. What was so great about Les Paul, was that he continued playing to the end.
I love jazz guitarists. And he was never a great one. Lets be honest.
But he loved his music and playing it. Means more to me than any stadium filling 'great'.
You play drums I know. Bill Bruford has announced that he has stopped playing gigs because he doesn't want to decline with old age. Garbage. You play music because you love it, not because you are good at it. And LP loved it with every bone in his body.
