Take it away scheme from Arts Council

Was just browsing around some local music store websites, and stumbled across this: Take it away from Arts Council England

It's a sponsored initiative to encourage more people to take up instruments by spreading the cost. So if you want to get that new guitar/drum kit/keyboard, find a participating store and spread the payments over 9 months!

Best of all, it's 0%, so won't cost you anything more than the stuff you're already buying. Anything to make the pennies go further in the current climate...

Sounds like a great option when buying a new instrument.

I wonder, after looking at the site, it seems as long as you are a UK resident you're eligible, so long as you purchase the instrument through a participating English store. So even though I'm north of the border, I could make use of it if I purchased something from an English company... Am I right?!

They say they are looking to expand it to the other parts of the UK, but currently it's England only. I guess there's no harm in trying it, particularly if it's not too much of a trek to a participating store.

Great system.

Basically they will give you up to £2000 over 9 months interest free.

If your instrument is more than 2K then you pay the difference in store there and then.

Once accepted you take the instrument away.

Great idea - especially for families who's children express an interest in music.

I'm hoping to make a purchase pretty soon. They say you can also make use of this deal by mail-order, so I'll give it a try!

I don't have £2000 now and I won't have £2000 in 9 months

Re: Take it away scheme from Arts Council

You don't have to spend £2k! It starts from £100.

What part of "basically they will give you up to £2000 over 9 months interest free" didn't you understand?

Re: Take it away scheme from Arts Council

Serious thread is serious

If I was in the market for a new instrument I would rather save up and pay it all at once, but I'm always like that about debt.

Actually, I am in the market for a new instrument. I want some sort of superstrat. Really, really want a PRS 513. That's £2500. Can I afford to pay £500 now and then £200 a month. Sadly, no So back out of the market
