how to insert a sub into your monitoring setup?

The bass extension on my Rockit's are ok, but i'm looking into getting one of these to really make my studio growl:

KRK KRK10S G2 Powered Reference Studio Subwoofer

Having no prior experience with subs, how would I go about inserting this into my setup, would some additional cabling/hardware be required?

maybe this would be better suited in the subwoofer section?

Take the line out from your mixer and connect to the KRK10s and connect the output of the KRK10s to the input of the (pre)amp.

or

Connect the spare sub-out or pre-outs of the amp to the krk10s
