Favourite soundtracks

Just got to thinking about my favourite soundtracks CDs, as I was listening to Reservoir Dogs.

This is obviously the first - a great mix of music, and the dialogue really helps. Don't know how Tarantino picked out so many obscure songs and out them together to make a great album.

Magnolia - some great Aimee Mann songs, finished off with some classic Supertramp to lighten the mood.

Amadeus - just a great soundtrack CD and shows the pure genius of W.A.Mozart.

Re: Favourite soundtracks

Gremlins 2 soundtrack is fantastic
Alien

Superman (the original John Williams score)
ET SACD excellent quality audio
Back to the future 2 original score, can't find the others
Indy 3 soundtrack, can't seem to find raiders or doom

Shawshank Redemption
Green Mile
Road to Perdition
or anything that Thomas Newman has done extremely atmospheric, emotional music

There are also some fantastic tracks on Peter Jacksons King Kong OST

I have thousands of favourites my list could go on

Re: Favourite soundtracks

There's some great Dave Grusin piano tracks on the The Firm soundtrack, plus a good bluesy one by Robben Ford.

Re: Favourite soundtracks

You need just one soundtrack in any music collection...

Transformers: The Movie

The original 1986 one none of this stupid Michael Bay rubbish

It has what is some of the best 80's music ever recorded
Fitted so well with the animation & had stirring rousing songs that send chills up my spine everytime I listen to it.

Neil

Re: Favourite soundtracks

Absoulute Beginners as Gil Evans had a lot to do with it. The double LP contains more of his work than the CD.

Re: Favourite soundtracks

Just thought of Manhunter, excellent soundtrack, I didn't think it would ever come out, it hasn't but there are 4 tracks on

The Directors Cut:Music From the Films Of Michael Mann [Soundtrack].

It's a shame that the version of Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida is edited but I guess that's a simple as having less tracks if they used the full version.

Oh & i also has the Del Shannon "Crime Story" version of Runaway

Re: Favourite soundtracks

This thread has reminded me of a cassette I used to have. I can't remember the name of the series, but it was set in Vietnam and had Paint it Black playing on the opening credits. A great soundtrack of 60's classics.

Hopefully someone will remember the name of the show and I can try and find a new copy.
