documenting on PC

Firstly I apologise if I should have spent time trawling through existing threads, but also apologise that I haven't got the time to do this.

Simply I need a suitable program for documenting audio files on PC. So that you can list comments on the album, and also the indivual tracks plus, obviously the play time and date the file was put on PC. The generic media playing programs may be able to do some of this but, also, they are neither intuitive or user friendly for locating files on the PC. Why can't these programs basically use a simple file/tree system such as Explorer (or a variation of it).

I also wish to document dvd and video material onto PC, so a program for that (if different from above) would be very useful as well. See also thread,

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Nigel

Re: documenting on PC

Maybe obvious but I'm pretty sure you can add comments on itunes to tracks. Also by right-clicking the track it has a 'locate in windows explorer' option which takes you straight to the file.
