Re: recommend me some good reggae.....

May I suggest a selection that incorporates Roots & Dub.
As follows............

Burning Spear, especially their seminal Marcus Garvey album.

Anything on the Greenleaves label (Now available as reissues!) Inc
Eeek A Mouse

Yellowman.

The legendary Lee "Scratch" Perry.

Max Romeo.

Anything by Scientist.

Linval Thompson.

My personal favourite British slice of Roots, Warrior Charge by Aswad.

That's a little taster of stuff that I'm into but there is an endless list of artists and tunes going back to the early 70's!.
PM me if you would like a more extensive list!

Oh and here's a link to a bit of fun if you have a few minutes to kill.

Re: recommend me some good reggae.....

good old Yellow Man, and Eek a Mouse. Scientist is great for heavy dub reggae, try Scientist v space invaders, or scientist wins the world cup.
Almost any reggae with Sly and Robbie playing on will be good. Black Uhuru are another group that will not disappoint.

Re: recommend me some good reggae.....

Want something a bit less classic and a bit harder. How about reggae played in a similar way that 'Rage Against The Machine' do rap then you have to try 'Bad Brains' (I against I is the recommended starting place).

Fusing punk/metal and reggae in a volatile mix that goes to the true heart of Reggae as true songs of rebellion and not the watered down, dope fuelled love fests that are the modern home of Reggae. Hard, uncompromising, fast and abrasive with a big metal edge. Choc full of attitude and energy.

On a similar tip try Second Light by Dreadzone.
