purplecompare.com - MP3 price comparison website

Hi,

Been a while since I posted but I still log in occasionally here to see what's going on.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum section, but I'm sure you'll let me know if it's not!

I've developed a site that I thought some of you might be interested in... those of you that have got MP3 players anyway (especially if they were free).

The site is called Purplecompare (url is Purplecompare.com) and it's only just gone live. It's basically a price comparison portal specifically for legal MP3s.

On the site you enter a search text and decide whether you want the search text to be matched by Album, Track, or Artist. When you click the Search button the site searches iTunes Music Store, Amazon MP3, and Play.com and let's you know what the cheapest price is along with details of how much the track is from each site.

Plans for the near future are to add HMV Digital, 7digital, Tesco Digital, and any other legal MP3 sites that people request along with the ability to pick and choose which sites you want to search.

Please feel free to use the comment form on the site to suggest improvements or let me know if it's a load of rubbish!!!!

For the tech-heads out there... the search is handled by PHP code (results from Play.com are HTML, results from Amazon are XML, and the results from iTunes are JSON), the results are formatted and displayed using a Flash object that was developed using Adobe Flex 3 - there is going to be a non-flash version in the next few weeks.

Link: Purplecompare.com - the first legal MP3 price comparison site.

Cheers,
Terry.

Pricechecker UK - Mp3 Price Comparison now include a mp3 music price comparison service which covers about 6 or 7 mp3 download stores.
Not the best looking search site - but results are ok
