So electronica heads, what do you think are the best acts in Dance history?

For me my list has got to have;

Faithless
Leftfield
Orbital
Massive Attack
Soulwax
Groove Armada
Ulrich Schnauss

Just a bit of fun really following a discussion i was having last night

Re: Best dance acts/producers of all time...

To add to your list, which is basicly what I would choose,

Trentemoller
William Orbit
Unkle
DJ Shadow
Air
Bent
Zero 7

probably not dance acts as such and I'm sure there are other producers I could think of of I went through my cd collection.

Surprised the Chemical Brothers never made it onto either of your lists.

Got a bit of a love/hate relationship with TCB's. They have down some outstanding work, they have also done well cheesy dodgy stuff. Let me down a bit at Glastonbury.

Re: Best dance acts/producers of all time...

So glad someone mentioned Masters at Work.

I'd like to add a few more.

Andy Weatherall for his production Inc Sabres of Paradise, and Primal Screams seminal Screamadelica!

Arthur Baker and Bill Laswell for their pioneering old school Electro sound ala Afrika Bambataa, Timzone and some work with New Order.

Paul Oakenfold for practically inventing Trance!

Underworld for producing Dubnobasswithmyheadman back in 92

Nelly Hooper for his work with various artists in the 90's!

Re: Best dance acts/producers of all time...

Some great ones mentioned already, to add a few to the list:

Red Snapper(my all time live favourites)
Kraftwerk
Herbaliser
Alpha
Lamb
Spring Heel Jack
LTJ Bukem(under his various guises)
T-Power("self evident truth" alone means he has to go on the list)

Will probably edit again in a minute as my brain starts to wake up

Just Marc Royal on his own for me, Shy FX(as an early jungle producer/dj) has put out some great tunes but was never too keen on their more commercial bouncy stuff they put out when they linked up. T-Powers Self Evident Truth of an Intuitive Mind album is an all time classic IMO!
