Hello All,
Got an email today from digital stores and the new box sets are all up on there websites now!
To me... the Beatles are the greatest group to walk the earth, there influence on the 20th century culture and popular music can still be felt today...
so it was great to finally to here that i can finally get my hands on digitally re-mastered versions on all there british studio albums and there past masters collection has been condensed into one album.
the box set and seperate versions can be purchased from 09.09.09 (John Lennon was obsessed with the number 9 , so im assuming thats why the chose this date.
what im not happy about however is the price £199.00 pounds or if you chose the american site $219 dollars..which is also marketed better and has more detail about the set. each cd also has a mini documentary about the making of each album and also the cds have additional notes as well.
the beatles merchandise and associated products have been notoriously overpriced for a long time and as much as i love the beatles and will be purchasing this set..i believe £150 would have been a fairer and more realistic price..especially in todays current climate..no doubt it will sell well for all the legions of beatles fans out there.... a price drop in mechandice would have been a welcome..if not overdue..but i suppose you cannot put a price on quality..see for yourself.
The albums have been re-mastered by a dedicated team of engineers at EMI's Abbey Road Studios in London. The result of this painstaking process is the highest fidelity the catalogue has seen since its original release.
Box Set Includes:
-Hard black glossy lift top with magnet clasp
-All 13 Studio remasters plus Past Masters
-CD's are packaged in three panel digi-pak with digital mini documentaries
the beatles digitally remastered box set - uk store the beatles digitally remastered box set - us store the beatles re-mastered box set - Mono £209.99 !!!!also..im pretty sure stereo mixes where done originally for the first four albums in the studio, but have only ever been released on vinyl, so they do exist..im used to hearing the mono versions on cd!
ironically, im hoping to pick this up cheaper than this..but i wont hold my breath

edit* these prices have changed since my original post
anyone know were i can get any trusted reviews of these albums (the remaster and how they sound) not the songs themselves as i already know they are gold (except maybe for ..ob la de, ob la da, yellow submarine, and octopus garden)..i know that info maybe not be available yet ..but it should be soon...dont want to spend this amount of dosh if it aint right!
