Splitting Audio Files into Tracks

Hi, I don't know much about Audio so I'm hoping the good people here can help me with an issue.

I have a very long audio file and I'd like to split it up into several tracks so I can click the "Next Track" button in my car when listening to it, to skip to the next section.

Bt at the same time, I don't want to create multiple files out of it. I still want it to remain as one file and yet have these markers inside it where I can skip to when pressing the forward button once.

Is there a way to do that?

I have Audacity on the Mac if that helps,

Appreciate the help,

JH
