What's at the root of a DVD-audio disc?

I'll explain. I've got a Pink Floyd DVD-audio disc (on DVD-R) that my Bose in-car player won't read (it's the only one I've got to try but it DOES claim to play DVD-audio). I've looked at the root of the disc on my PC and it comprises of an AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS folder. The video one is empty and the audio one contains BUP,IFO,AOB and VOB files. Is that right? Could someone please look at one of their DVD-Audio discs and see what's supposed to be there? Or if anyone can see an obvious reason why this one won't play?
Thanks.

Those files are right. The audio_ts folder is for DVD Audio and the video_ts is for DVD Video discs.

Cheers. I'll try and get hold of an original and see if that works.

Re: What's at the root of a DVD-audio disc?

If your disc is on dvd r it probably will not play because of the copy protection on these discs, DVD-A is differant to the bog standard disc your movies come on but they often have content on the disc your standard DVD player can read.
Tho to play the hi res audio files you do need a dedicated player capable of DVD-A playback.
Looking for a DVD-A Disc to try? Today in my local HMV I picked up the Beatles Love album in dual disc format for £6 The DVD in this set is a DVD-A

Thanks for that. I have since bought a Blue Man Group DVD-A which plays fine in my car but I have 'obtained' 3 others on DVD-R and none of them play. It's probably due to the protection you mention then. I would have thought though that whoever made the ones I downloaded had taken care of the protection. Ah well, it looks like I may have to buy some instead!
Thanks anyway.

It'll definately be worth buying some, in my opinion. There are some really wonderful albums out there, although unfortunately some seem hard to find now - could always depend on your musical taste.

I have The Beatles "Love" album, and it really is very good. You mention that your album is in dual disc format. Don't you mean simply Digi-Pack? My "Love" album is the more common single-sided DVD-A. This is opposite to my latest purchases, which are The Alan Parsons Project "I Robot", "The Turn of a Friendly Card" and "Eye in the Sky". These are all double-sided DVD-As. I put off buying them for a long time, as they're "only" stereo. Silly of me really, as they are very good.

On the subject of your player not playing DVD-Rs, could it not also be player compatability? I don't have lot's of experience, but my Sony DVD/HDD recorder manual does state (and I believe my Arcam DV137 manual also) that some players might have problems playing certain discs recorded on a different machine, regardless of whether they were formatted (for example) or not.

I think it was olvaris that mentioned dual disc. This is the one I have The Complex [DVD AUDIO]: Blue Man Group: Amazon.co.uk: Music
It's only single sided but dual layer I think as it's 7gb in size. When I put it in my car player it plays straight away and shows DVD-A in the display. You can tell instantly that it's playing in full surround sound.
Regarding DVD-r compatibilty, I am getting some different ones to see if that makes any difference. I doubt it will though as the ones I have burned won't work in my pc either. I've got a feeling it may be to do with the way the ones I dowloaded have been 'authored' or ripped.
Derek.

Yes - it was olvaris that mentioned the "Love" album. Daft of me not to take more notice!

Looks an interesting DVD-A you've given the url for. It isn't one that I've got, or ever even noticed.
